The battle to beat domestic abuse across Wiltshire steps up a gear today (Thursday 5th April) as Trowbridge-based Splitz Support Service starts to apply the benefits of a three year lottery grant to its growing programme.
Splitz will be moving to new premises from 2 April 2012. Our new office will provide additional space and the convenience of no double yellow lines or other parking restrictions.

We were delighted to receive a £420 cheque this week from Corsham Town Council toward our Buddy Scheme. This means we will be able to offer emotional support to women in the town affected by domestic abuse. The Town Council's generosity follows the endorsement of the Corsham Area Board for our work with young people in the area. It's wonderfully boosting news - thank you, town councillors!
We have been discussing our plans for one to one and group support for children affected by domestic abuse with Area Boards in Corsham and Melksham. Our Young People's Service for young people in those areas has been boosted with grants of £2,500 and £4,075 respectively.
Two local funders have recently made generous contributions to our work: Trowbridge Town Council have given us £500 toward the Buddy Scheme so our wonderful volunteers can keep giving emotional support; the William "Doc" Couch Trust has granted £3,000 toward our workshops at Newburn House.
We are always interested to hear from people who have the skills and desire to join our trustee board.
The Buddy Scheme is a mentoring and befriending service which currently has 1 project coordinator and 16 trained volunteer mentors (or buddies) who, after receiving full training from us, each support between one and three service users at any one time.
